Hey! My name is Marc and this is my story about Pottliebe:

After an exhausting shift underground, I made it to the football pub just in time to celebrate my team's hard-earned victory with a currywurst, fries and a cold beer in front of the kiosk. That's real Ruhr area! It's only natural that in the midst of this typical atmosphere I was inspired to create my own clothing line for the region, right?

If you think this story sounds a bit too good to be true, you're in for a surprise. At least the part about stylish local patriotism is true!

The actual story of how Pottliebe came about doesn't tick off quite as many clichés, but it does convey a pleasant DIY charm that is more reminiscent of the modern start-up culture of the Ruhr region. And there's still a bit of sport involved: During my time as a hockey player, I also ran an online shop for warm-up shirts - lovingly made with a plotter and transfer press at the time.

I quickly found pleasure in producing my own clothes, but the opportunity for growth in the hockey sector was hardly there due to the manageable target group. Therefore, the technology was adapted to today's printing standards and the focus was expanded. Pottliebe finally launched at the beginning of 2018!

…because love doesn’t have to be cheesy

The aim of my young brand is to present textile declarations of love for the Ruhr region in a cool, street-ready style. Although some of the region's classic characteristics are played with, I don't want to rest on hackneyed images: As a trained media designer, I naturally also act as a designer for Pottliebe and ensure that my customers are offered more than just standard slogans and mining.
